A city with four seasons
Limassol is sold as a summer city, which undersells it. The swimming season runs April to November, but the months either side are when the city is at its best: the promenade empties, the tavernas keep their terraces open, and the mountains are an hour away under snow.
Winter here means fifteen degrees and clear light. Spring means wildflowers across the Akrotiri peninsula. The rhythm is Mediterranean rather than seasonal in the northern European sense.
Where the city is heading
The marina district continues to anchor new development, and the old town has quietly become the more interesting place to eat. Both are within walking distance of the seafront.
